Abstract
This article focuses on: i) performance evaluation, contextualizing it in the sui generis panorama that is Public Administration, referring to its usefulness, positive and negative aspects arising therefrom, as well as possible strategies for optimizing its implementation; ii) accountability of government action as a proxy for democratic legitimacy (understand democratic representation and accountability) perceived by citizens and voters, in a period of clear empowerment of the latter; iii) and, transparency and open government, as a result of the growing demands of civic involvement, trust and scrutiny of the administrative apparatus.
