Abstract
The metaphysical problem of the human person occupies a central place in the history of philosophical thought, as it is directly related to the questions of being, self-consciousness, freedom, dignity, and the transcendent vocation of the human being. This issue acquires particular significance in the works of Fr. Battista Mondin, who sought to synthesize the classical Thomistic metaphysics of being with the phenomenological and personalist approaches of contemporary philosophy. This article analyzes the metaphysical foundations of the human person in Mondin’s philosophical thought, examines the characteristics of his phenomenological-transcendental method, and highlights the principal paths through which he develops a metaphysical justification of human personhood.
