Abstract

A walkable environment is one that invites people to walk. For Speck, walkability provides vitality in cities. In this sense, the objective of the study was to evaluate the walkability of Noel Nutels Avenue in Manaus, located in the neighborhood with the highest population density in the city, within a radius of influence of 500 m from a shopping center, because there is a significant amount of Travel Generator Hubs in the surrounding area. The methodology employed was bibliographic and field research. The walkability index was determined through the iCam 2.0 tool, from the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy. Avenida Noel Nutels was evaluated using the iCam 2.0 walkability scales – excellent, good, sufficient and insufficient – the result obtained was sufficient. Therefore, interventions were proposed to improve walkability based on the aspects identified as most critical, in order to make the environment more walkable and contribute to the quality of life of citizens circulating in the area, also encouraging commerce in the mall and its surroundings.
