SIMULATION IN COMPUTATIONAL FLUIDODYNAMICS (CFD) TO VERIFY AN EXTERNAL FLOW OVER A STOUT BODY

Authors

Abstract

Computer simulations, both in the area of solids and in the area of fluids, have gained important prominence in academic, industrial and professional circles, among others. This study in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) provides, with the simulations, the interpretations of velocity, pressure, temperature fields, as well as their associations with the dimensionless parameters of Reynolds, Nusselt and Prandtl. The aim of this work is to simulate an external incompressible flow, transient, laminar, with heat transfer by forced convection in a two-dimensional domain over a blunt body and verify with works in the literature. From the proposed geometry and the mesh generated in GMSH, the numerical simulation is performed in Ansys Fluent, where the results of interest are: velocity field, temperature field, pressure field, and in particular the Nusselt number in the body under flow. As a comparison of the literature, we arrive at a verified routine that can be explored in future studies in relation to boundary conditions and geometric conditions and their influences under fields and dimensionless ones.
